Edinburgh Sports Events

Edinburgh hosts sports events and activities that suit everybody's needs, whether you come to take part or just to watch and cheer.

For those into running every May there's the BUPA Great Edinburgh Run and the Edinburgh Marathon. And in March 2008 Edinburgh will be hosting the IAAF World Cross Country Championships.

Adrenaline junkies won't be disappointed either. Just to the west of the city is the newly renovated Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, the biggest indoor climbing arena in the world. Less active souls can don Pringle sweater and dodgy slacks and enjoy some of the best golf available anywhere along the stretch of East Lothian coast.

In September Edinburgh will be hosting a couple of Rugby World Cup games and from 2007 it will have the honour of being the last event in each season's IRB Sevens World series final.
